Record Store Day isn’t just a profitable day for the local record store, but it’s also one of the most highly anticipated events for local music lovers. This year (just like every year) Radio-Active Records steps it up and stimulates us with a super packed lineup with so much enticing entertainment and limited edition offers, it’s making my slender blogger fingers tingle.
I’ll try to do my best to list everything that’s important about FTL’s Record Store Day 2013, but I’m bound to forget something, so feel free to comment with things I need to add, and I’ll update the post.
First Things First
The band lineup is stupendous, as is typical of Radio-active RSD celebrations: Jacuzzi Boys, Shroud Eater, Suede Dudes, and special guest (someone fill me in) anchor the live music portion of the event. Stream music here & here.
The DJ lineup is diverse (which is good). While I can’t say for sure what everyone will be spinning, it’s safe to say that we’ll be hearing some soul (DJ Blue of South Florida Soul Club), some dreamy indie (Millionyoung DJ set), some garage (Sgt. Pepperspray from Jacuzzi Boys), and some zombified oldlies (?) (Benton). The rest of the DJ lineup includes Alex Caso, Kems, and Lumin.
Just in case you never want to forget RSD 2013, take a memento at the commemorative photobooth.
Giveaways from Clarks Originals, Kanine Records, Limited Fanfare Records, the record store, Revolution Live, Stray Rats Clothing, Universal Music Group, Vinylfy, Vinyl Militia, and Warner Brothers Records.
A portable record player from Numark Industries (gimme), autographed LPs from The XX (gimme), Jacuzzi Boys, Millionyoung, concert tickets, and rare test pressings.
Oh Yeah, The Exclusives
Let’s not forget the countless limited edition releases and deep discounts on vinyl. While I can’t promise that all these will be available, check out this list of exclusive releases on the official Record Store Day website. If you want to make sure Radio-Active will have it in stock, I’m sure manager Mikey Ramirez won’t mind if you call ahead of time 954.762.9488.
I can’t find a good list of store-specific discounts, but the event page mentions 4 for $1 sidewalk sale and 50% of Iron Forge posters. Let me know where I can find a list, and I’ll link.
You guessed it, Block X Blog Festival, taking place at Revolution, Green Room, and America’s Backyard. Check out Subculture’s website for info, then click through our site for more coverage. Tickets can be purchased at Record Store Day.
Record Store Day at Radio-Active is this Saturday, April 20th from 9am – 10pm. 845 N. Federal Highway, FTL. Invite your friends.
